My Shower Time!
When I step into the shower and turn on my favorite playlist, something shifts. The water hits my skin, the music fills the space, and suddenly I'm not just washing I'm arriving. I'm present. The body wash lathers, the scent rises, and for those few minutes, the world outside doesn't exist. It's just me, the rhythm, and the ritual. Now my shower routines with music vary based on my mood. The other day I was feeling very EDM, Dance so I put on Rochelle Jordan, Moon Boots, and a few others from a playlist I created. Sometimes I just take a silent shower and SING to the top of my lungs (off key of course). But I feel good doing this!
Music Makes Me Feel Alive
There's a song that always makes me close my eyes and sway, even when I'm just standing under the water. When I listen to it while using body wash, I feel lighter. The stress of the day washes away with the suds. I feel my shoulders drop, my breathing slow. The music doesn't just play in the background—it becomes part of the experience, part of the release.
In the morning, I need something upbeat. Something that makes me want to move, to start the day with energy. I'll put on a track by Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion, 21 Savage, Beyonce, or something truly upbeat that makes me smile or feel like I'm badass. I massage my Multivitamin Body Wash into my skin, I feel ready. Ready to take on whatever comes. The music pumps me up, and the ritual grounds me. Nothing feels better than knowing a hype me up song and shower in the morning to get you going to take on the day. At night, play something soothing like Sade, Snoh Aalegra, or some smooth sounds of R&B or Jazz.
The Ritual of Pretty and Rich Body Butter
It's the evening, you begin your nighttime ritual that feels the most sacred. After a shower, you reach for Pretty and Rich body butter. The texture is thick, luxurious, and as you warm it between your palms, you press play on something slow and soulful.
As you smooth it over your arms, legs, shoulders, speak affirmations aloud:
"I am beautiful. I am abundant. Wealth flows to me effortlessly."
"I am worthy of luxury. I am radiant. My beauty is undeniable."
"Money comes to me easily. I am magnetic. I attract prosperity."
"I am rich in every way—in love, in joy, in abundance."
With each affirmation, massage the butter deeper into your skin. Say, "I feel nourished. I feel seen. I feel like I'm investing in myself, not just physically, but energetically." The music swells, the words sink in, and I believe them. In that moment, I am everything I'm declaring.
Lotion, Music, and Letting Go
Some nights, I just need to let go. I'll use a lighter lotion, something that absorbs quickly, and I'll put on a song that makes me feel emotional. Sometimes I cry...(now y'all know our girl Mary J Blige is good for that) Sometimes I laugh. But I always feel something. The act of caring for my body while listening to music that moves me creates space for whatever I'm holding to come out.
It's not about perfection. It's about presence. It's about giving myself permission to feel, to slow down, to honor my body and my emotions in the same breath.
This Is My Time
Body butter, lotion, body wash—they're not just products to me. They're tools for transformation. And music? Music is the bridge between who I was when I walked into the bathroom and who I am when I walk out.
When I pair the two, I'm not just going through the motions. I'm creating a moment. A ritual. A practice of self-love that's as much about how I feel as it is about how I care for my skin.
So I invite you:
Next time you shower, play a song that makes you feel something. When you reach for your body butter—especially Pretty and Rich—speak affirmations of beauty and wealth over yourself. Let the music guide you. Let the ritual fill you. This is your time. Make it sacred.

My showers are truly the times I put on a concert. I think music and self care do go hand in hand. Its just like Fashion. It inspires everyone to dress and feel a certain type of way. When you want to wind down at night you put on something smooth, soft and sexy (music, lingerie, and your favorite scent). I think everyone experiences this. Good article and I love your hype me up music artists lol
